Samplify’s Prism CT™ compression technology is optimized for compression of raw or preprocessed x-ray detector data within computed tomography imaging machines. Compression reduces cost of slip rings and RAID arrays in CT data acquisition subsystems. Samplify has licensed its Prism CT™ compression technology to Moog Components Group of Blacksburg, VA who will integrate it into slip rings and other subsystems for the computed tomography market.
Lossless and Near Lossless Compression for CT
Prism CT™ provides both lossless and near lossless operation. In Veribit™ mode, compression is truly lossless, with each least significant bit of each sample from each x-ray detector faithfully reproduced after a compression and decompression cycle. Veribit™ mode can be especially useful for archiving the x-ray data so that images can later be reconstructed using different parameters. Prism CT™ also provides a near lossless mode, RateTrak™, which intelligently adapts the dynamic range to maintain a target compression ratio with minimal impact to image reconstruction. Samplify has verified RateTrak™ operation at a compression ratio of 3:1, and is currently exploring even higher compression ratios with CT OEMs.
